Discussing Basic Rules for Poker:

Poker is probably the most popular and widely promoted game on the internet, all online casinos will offer poker in some shape or form. . The online poker industry has exploded in recent years and has attracted a global fan base. Poker today is much different that it once two centuries ago, rules have been refined, and strategies have been re-touched, but the game is still deeply rooted in its rich history of courage, trickery, and intelligence.

Poker is won when players reveal their hands. Winning hands consist of: Straight Flush, Royal Flush, Full House, Four of a kind, Three of a Kind, Two Pairs, Flush, High Card, Straight and Pair.

With the advent of Internet, anyone can find hundreds of sites dedicated to Poker. Although there are certain commonly followed conventions in the game of Poker, every site will incorporate their own rules, it would be a wise decision to quickly review the sites rule book to ensure you are familiar with these regulations. However, these rules shouldn't change to much, because poker is a universal game, and thus must adhere to universal standards.

Two of the most popular poker games are Texas Holdem and Seven-Card Stud. Both the games allow you to choose five cards that represent your hand, the hand that ranks highest, wins.

Before rushing off to an online casino, have a look at the following rules. In basic Poker there are ten possible winning hands- which have been discussed below from lowest to highest:

High Card: If no one else in the game has any of the below combinations, the player with the highest card (where Ace is the best) in their hand wins.
Pair: You need two matching cards for a win.
Two Pairs: you would need two separate pairs . ( ie. A pair of 3's and a pair of 7's )
Three of a Kind: Three aces, three fives. Must be three matching value cards, of any suit.
Straight: Regardless of any suit you need a hand of five cards in ranking order. (3,4,5,6,7,)
Flush: Here order doesn't matter; five cards of the same suit will do the trick.
Full House: From any suit, three of one value card and two of another.
Four of a Kind: Four same value cards from any suit
Straight Flush: Five consecutive cards of the same suit need not be the highest.
Royal Flush: You can literally bet the house with this - Five cards in order from ten to ace, of the same suit.

It is a lot of fun to create your poker hand once you know the rules and how to apply them to your strategies. A tip a friend gave to me which I will now pass onto you is to keep a printed list of the rank of hands beside you while you visit an online casino, this will help you quickly decide if you hand is worth playing or not.
Best of luck!
