The game of Texas Holdem is simple to learn but difficult to master. Each player is given two cards, and five cards are turned up on the table. The one makes the best five cards from seven cards (two cards that he has and five cards on the table) wins the game. For explaining the game we shall use 4/8. The game has four betting rounds, the first two will have a limit of 2, and 4 in last two rounds.
The game begins when the dealer distributes two cards to each player. The player sitting at the dealer's left puts up, otherwise known as "posts", 50% of the minimum bid (which is 2). This is called the small blind. The player sitting on the left of the small blind puts up the big blind, being is 4. Other players of the game don't contribute in any money. Since the deal rotates, each player gets a chance to be small blind, big blind and dealer.
In the first of the four games, each person playing Texas Hold Em, is given two cards and after the two players have put their bids, the player sitting at the left of the big blind can put in 4 to call the blind, or put in 8 to raise the blind, or fold his hands. The betting continues till it arrives at the player who put up the small blind. He can call bet by putting in 2, since he has already put in 2. The last person to do anything is the one who has put in the big blind. If no player has raised the bid then the dealer will ask what to do. The big blind has a choice to either raise the bet or just check. Once the person checks, then he does not contribute any more money.
In the second round, three cards are given out and flipped so they are face up on the table. These are called "flop" and are community cards that can be used by all the players. The same betting procedure is followed as in the first round. The blind starts at 2 in this round.
Once the flop is completed the fourth card on the table is turned. This is called the turn. The same betting procedure is followed as in first round, the only difference being the starting blind is 8 in the third round.
In the final round the fifth card on the table is turned, and the player with the best five cards (out of seven) wins the game. Sometimes the five on the table turn out to be the best hand, but this might not happen often. If two best hands happen in one game a sixth card tiebreaker is never used, instead the money is divided equally among the winners.
